How To Fix "Windows Could Not Automatically Detect Network Proxy Settings" in Windows 10 - 7 Methods 2022


Windows  Could Not Automatically Detect Network Proxy Settings is reported by many windows operating system user. Its main reason is incorrect IP Configuration but there may be more reasons of this issue , But in this article we will try to fix this problem with 5 methods.

 


1. REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM.

I think restarting can solve lot of problem not only "Windows Could Not Automatically Detect Network Proxy Settings but other issues also. Restart gives fresh settings and stops background tasks and also if you have router and other modem devices , You need to restart them as well .If this step did not help you follow next method.


2. CHANGE PROXY SETTING.

Sometime an incorrect proxy setting can lead windows network proxy setting error, So it is better to check the proxy setting and make sure you are using correct proxy setting. Before reviewing proxy setting on your windows you need to know what is proxy?.

Proxy server acts as a middlemen between computer and network , Actually proxy filters which requested should be allowed and which should not be since we request in a web browser for specific outcome. In this case computer's request goes to proxy server after that proxy server check request and gives the desired results. So checking proxy is very important in this type of error.

1. Go to windows "Search Bar" and type "Change Proxy Setting" click on " it.

2. Make sure Proxy option is off as below and "ON" Automatic detect settings.

 


  METHOD 3. AUTOMATIC IP CONFIGURATION.

Automatic IP Configuration is directly not related to this error but incorrect IP and DNS can cause this error on you system. If a manual IP was given to your system for some specific purpose the you need to check your IP configuration you need to follow. 

1. Go to "Start Menu" and click on it now you need to choose "Settings" and then "Network & Internet".

2. Click on "Change Adapters Option" and right click "Connected WIFI or Ethernet". 

3. After right click you need to click on "Properties". 


4. Now you need to Double Click on Internet Protocol Version4 TCP/IPV4

5. Make sure "Obtain An IP Address Automatically " must be selected.

5. In DNS select "Obtain DNS Server Automatically" and Hit "OK".



METHOD 4. UPDATE OR ROLL BACK DRIVER.

An outdated or wrong driver can also cause to this error , Since driver is the main component for running selected service. Therefore right choice of driver becomes more important for windows users.

If you have updated your windows , You can roll back your driver and this may solve your issue.

Roll back means your driver will set as it was working in past , So you can try this as well.


1. Go to device manager by typing "Device Manager" in "Windows Search Bar".

2. Now you need to expand "Network Adapters" Then right click on your "Network Driver" it can be Wi-Fi driver or ethernet driver , You can choose as per your choice.

3. Click on "Update Driver" option on the top and then choose "Search Automatically for drivers".


4. If you get this message "The best driver for you device are already installed" the again go to "Network Adapters" and click on "Update Driver" and choose "Browse my computer for driver" .

5. Now click on "Let me pick from a list of available driver on my computer" and choose updated driver from the list and prompt will appear to restart your system click on "Yes"

6. You need to choose "Microsoft Driver" 

FOR ROLL BACK NETWORK DRIVER.

1.In order to roll back your network driver you need to expand "Network Adapters" and "Right "click on it.


2. Choose last option which is "Properties".

3. Click on "Driver" tab and click on "Roll Back Driver".

4. click on any option you want  like "My apps does not work with this"

5. Now click on "Ok" your driver will be roll back and will work properly.

If your issue still persists this mean problem is complicated , So you have to follow advanced options .


METHOD 5. RESET NETWORK SETTINGS.

Incorrect network settings and problematic IP can also lead to windows could not automatically detect network proxy settings. Network settings is directly responsible for connecting to others device, If these settings become corrupt or incorrect. You may face network proxy settings error.

1. This step can be followed by every windows user because commands are applied same on all operating system but you need to fulfil some requirements like you must have admins rights and user account.

2. Go to Windows Search bar and type CMD . Now right click on it and Run Command Prompt as Administrator. 

3. Right click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run As Administrator" and type below commands one by one.

(1). netsh winsock reset


(2). netsh int ip reset


(3).  ipconfig /release


(4).  ipconfig /renew


(5). ipconfig /flushdns

METHOD 6. RESTORE YOUR SYSTEM.

If you have created system restore point on your system when your network was working fine, This step will solve "Windows could not automatically detect network settings" error. 

1. Go to "Windows Search Bar" and type "Create A Restore Point" click on it.

2. Click on "System Restore" under "System Protection".



3. Now select the date when you created system restore and hit "Next".


METHOD 7. CLEAN WINDOWS INSTALLATION.

If none of them worked , You can reinstall your windows via bootable Pen Drive or DVD. This step will delete your all data from selected drive basically windows installed on C drive but during installation you can choose the windows drive. You have to back up your important data before applying this method.
